Tyler's Newborn Photos

I realized last night, as I was looking back through old blog posts, that I never posted any of Tyler's newborn photos. These were taken in Tyler's nursery when he was nine days old. The photographer, Anna Bryan, is an occupational therapist at the clinic where Caleb goes weekly. While in school, she did a rotation with Caleb's OT and that's how we got to know her. She does photography as a hobby, and we are beyond pleased with the work she did!

Happy Easter

Tyler - Two Months

Weight: 10 lb, 9 oz

Length: 23.5"

Clothing size: 0-3 month

Diaper size: size 1

Eating: Tyler nurses 7-8 times each day, and he takes one 4.5-5oz bottle of breastmilk each evening. 

Sleeping: Tyler goes to bed at about 10:30pm and sleeps for several hours. He usually wakes up sometime between 4:00 and 6:00am. He nurses and then goes back to sleep for another couple hours. He takes several naps throughout the day. I'm working on trying to get him on a good daytime eat/play/sleep schedule, but we haven't had much luck being consistent with that yet. 

Highlights of the month: Tyler started going to the church nursery on Sunday mornings and Sunday evenings. He rolled from his tummy to his back for the first time at six weeks old. Tyler stayed with babysitters (Gigi & Papa) for the first time at seven weeks old while Mommy and Daddy went to an OKC Thunder game.

World Down Syndrome Day

What a great day celebrating Caleb and the Down syndrome community. This day is all about awareness. And with increased awareness, I pray that increased acceptance and inclusion will follow. Here are a few pics of us, family and friends wearing our Team Caleb shirts today! Thanks to those of you who sent me your photos or tagged me on social media! We love you all! 

Hand Surgery Follow-up

Caleb had a check-up with his hand surgeon yesterday. It's been over a year since his syndactyly release surgery on his right hand and almost a year since the surgery on his left hand. Both surgeries went well, and his fingers have healed. His right ring finger is still crooked, and he might need a minor surgery at some point to get it straightened back out. It sounds like that's still several years away, though.  We also will continue to watch for scar tissue build-up between the separated fingers. If that happens, a minor surgery can be done to clean up the scar tissue. We will follow up with the surgeon again in a year. 

RSV Recovery

It's been four weeks since our boys came home from the hospitals and started their recoveries from RSV (and pneumonia for Caleb). They are both doing very well. 

Caleb was very weak once he got home. He was so weak that he wouldn't even crawl. It was really sad to see that gross motor regression, even though I knew it was temporary. It took a good two weeks for him to get his strength back, and he is all over the place now! He is taking independent steps at PT. He hasn't done it at home yet, but I can tell that he's really close! 

Tyler is doing well with his RSV recovery, too. It took him about a week to get over his cough. He is eating and sleeping very well. 

Team Caleb - World Down Syndrome Day

This Saturday, March 21st is World Down Syndrome Day. This day is set aside to raise awareness for people with Down syndrome. Our family will be wearing our "Team Caleb" shirts as we go about our Saturday activities. 

We've seen several times that, when wearing these shirts, people stop and ask us what "Team Caleb" is. It opens up a great opportunity for us to share about Down syndrome and, more specifically, our precious son! If you purchased a Team Caleb shirt in 2013 or 2014, will you join us by wearing it this Saturday?
