Tyler - 24 months

Weight: 25lb 8oz

Length: 34"

Clothing size: 24 month shirts and some 2T shirts, 18-24 month pants

Shoe size: Size 7

Diaper size: He started potty-training three weeks ago, so he wears underwear during the day now. He still wears either a diaper or a pull-up at night.

Eating: Tyler still loves dairy... milk, string cheese and Chobani Tot greek yogurt pouches
Sleeping: Tyler goes to bed at 8:00pm and wakes up for the day around 7:00am. He usually takes one nap before or after lunch. A few nights each week, he wakes during the middle of the night and quietly walks into our room. Brad takes him back to bed, and I soundly sleep through it all.

His days: Tyler goes to Mother's Day Out three days each week. He also tags along to Caleb's weekly PT, OT and speech therapy sessions

His favorite things: Caleb, milk, playing outside, and music (especially "Five Little Monkeys")
Highlights of the last three months: We switched Tyler's crib to a toddler bed. He started potty training! His speech development has been amazing... he often speaks in sentences, and many of his sentences are 5+ words long! He got a few more teeth, so now the tooth count is at 16. He has everything but the four two-year molars. He had his first dental appointment several weeks ago, and he did great with the dentist.

Sleeping: Tyler goes to bed at 8:00pm and wakes up around 7:00am. If we're in the car, he often will fall asleep for a brief morning nap around 10:00-11:00am. He also usually takes a good nap after lunch.

Tyler - 18 Months

Weight: 24lbs, 6oz (53rd percentile)

Length: 32" (35th percentile)

Clothing size: 18 month shirts, 12 month pants/shorts

Shoe size: Size 5

Diaper size: Size 4

Eating: Tyler LOVES milk. We really try to stick to the pediatrician's recommended 15-20 ounces a day, but he'd drink so much more if we'd let him. He also likes pizza, PB/honey sandwiches, raisins, grapes, and blueberries. He still likes baby food pouches, and I like that it's an easy way to get him to eat some veggies. Peanut butter Cheerios were discontinued, but Tyler seems content with the multigrain Cheerios for now. He also recently discovered a love for Annie's graham bunnies and Teddy Grahams.

Sleeping: Tyler goes to bed at about 8:00-8:30pm and wakes up around 7:00-7:30am. If we're home or in the car, he often will fall asleep for a brief morning nap around 10:00am. He also usually takes a good nap after lunch.

His days: Tyler goes to Mother's Day Out three days each week. He also tags along to Caleb's weekly PT, OT and speech therapy sessions, and he actively participates in all of them... two for the price of one?!

Highlights of the last three months: Goodness... he has grown up so much over the last three months! Here are just a few of the "highlights" and big milestones

Tyler officially became a "walker" a couple days after turning 15 months, and he never looked back. He loves to run around with Caleb, crawl up the stairs, scoot down the stairs, "jump" in the pool and climb on anything he can. He has no fear!

He has an insane vocabulary and seems so smart. The things he says sometimes just blow me away. A couple examples...
We were recently at the lake with Brad's family. Brad's dad was doing "This little piggy" on Tyler's toes. When Dane finished, Tyler looked around and asked "What pig?"
- One morning last week, he was sitting next to me on the sofa and sneezed. He spewed a mouthful of partially chewed Cheerios all over my arm. He looked at my arm and exclaimed "Gross! Clean it!"

He is learning numbers and starting to count. His idea of counting to ten is "One, two, four, SIX (his favorite), ten!" We need to keep working on three, five, seven, eight and nine... but give him a break, people... he's only eighteen months old!

He doesn't like to have on a wet diaper, so he usually does one of two things
- he gets a diaper from his drawer and brings it to me
- he runs to me and says either "potty" or "pull-up"
He is very interested in the potty, so we're introducing him to the whole concept of potty training. He sits on his potty several times each day and has successes every now and then. He loves it when I let him wear Pull-ups instead of diapers. We're not going to put any pressure on him to potty train soon, but I expect it will come easy to him when we feel that it's time to get serious about it.

He is currently getting all four of his first-year molars. That takes the teeth count up to ten.

Tyler - Twelve Months

Weight: 19 lbs, 6 oz

Length: 30.5"

Clothing size: 12-18 month shirts, 12 month pants

Shoe size: Size 3

Diaper size: Size 3

Eating: For the past month, Tyler was still nursing when he was with me and taking bottles at MDO, but we're starting the weaning process now that he's one. He nurses a few times each day and drinks whole milk at other times. He refuses to eat any homemade baby foods now, except for his favorite avocado/banana. He loves yogurt and baby food pouches. His favorite bite-sized foods are peanut butter Cheerios, raisins, and cheese.

Sleeping: Tyler goes to bed at about 8:30pm and wakes up around 7:30am. He often wakes around 10:00pm and quickly falls back asleep if we rock him for a little bit. He also usually wakes up around 2:00-3:00am. (Brad and I are hoping that the night-waking comes to an end soon!) He usually takes a nap around around 11:00 and sleeps for 1-3 hours. Occasionally, he takes a short afternoon nap.

Highlights of the month: Tyler has switched from army crawler to hands/knees crawler. He pulls up to anything he can find, and he loves walking while holding our hands. He hasn't built up the courage to take independent steps yet, but I bet he will soon.

Diaper size: size 4

Eating: Some of Caleb's favorite foods are blueberry pancakes, raisins, string cheese, mac & cheese, mandarin oranges, grilled cheese sandwiches, pizza, Goldfish crackers, Teddy Grahams, and Annies Bunnies crackers. Caleb drinks all of his milk with the Talk Tools Straw #1 and Take & Toss straw cups. He drinks water from Munchkin Click Lock Insulated Straw Cups

Sleeping: Caleb goes to sleep around 8:00pm and wakes up around 7:00am. He usually takes one nap in the early afternoon. He usually sleeps about 1.5-2 hours.

His days: Caleb still goes to Mother's Day Out three times each week. He also does several hours of speech, occupational, and physical therapies each week.

Highlights of the last three months: Caleb is crawling, pulling up, and cruising! He walks while holding onto our hands and occasionally while holding on to a push toy. He says about 25 words (some don't sound quite recognizable to others, but Brad and I know what he's saying), and he signs about 30 words!

Caleb has twelve teeth now. The only ones he's missing are his four canines and his four two-year molars.

And here are Caleb's final white onesie chair pics...

Saturday, July 26, 2014

21 months

Weight: 21 lbs, 5 oz

Length: 30"

Clothing size: Mostly 18 month. He still wears size 3 infant shoes, and he wears size 4 with his SureSteps.

Diaper size: size 4

Eating: Caleb is eating most regular foods. Some of his favorite foods are blueberry pancakes, blueberries, raisins, mac & cheese, mandarin oranges, grilled cheese sandwiches, and multigrain Cheerios. Caleb drinks all of his milk with the Talk Tools Straw #1 and Take & Toss straw cups. He usually drinks water from a water bottle that has a straw or a little straw cup that I picked up at Old Navy one time.

Sleeping: Caleb goes to sleep around 8:00-8:30pm and wakes up around 6:30-7:00am. He usually takes one nap in the early afternoon. He usually sleeps about 1.5-2 hours.

His days: Caleb still goes to Mother's Day Out three times each week. He also does several hours of speech, occupational, and physical therapies each week. And of course, we make time for trips to the library, play dates and playing at home. We try to go to the zoo 1-2 times each month, but we haven't made it much lately because it's so hot!

Highlights of the last three months: Caleb is still doing his combination of an inchworm and army crawl. He's also pushing up on his arms and getting really close to pushing up into quadruped position. It takes very little effort on our part to help him push up into quadruped. He can transition from quadruped to sitting without help.

Caleb is getting his top two central incisors, and one of his bottom lateral incisors. The tooth count is now up to 9!

18 month recap

Weight: 20lb 8oz

Length: 28"

Clothing size: Mostly 18 month, but he does still wear a few 12 month clothes. He still wears size 3 infant shoes.

Diaper size: size 3

Eating: Caleb is eating most regular foods now. I still cut/tear everything into small bites for him, since he still doesn't have many teeth. At Mother's Day Out and sometimes out of convenience while we're away from home, he has baby food pouches. Some of his favorite foods lately have been quesadillas, pulled pork, blueberry pancakes, mac & cheese, mandarin oranges, and multigrain Cheerios. Caleb still drinks all of his milk from his Honey Bear straw cups. We introduced Talk Tools Straw #1 a few days ago. He usually drinks all of his afternoon milk using Straw #1. He is drinking water from Take & Toss straw cups.

Sleeping: Caleb goes to sleep around 8:00pm and wakes up around 6:30-7:00am.

We try to go to the zoo at least a couple times each month.

Highlights of the last three months: Caleb is moving forward more. He's pulling himself with his arms quite a bit, doing some sort of combination of an inchworm and army crawl. He's also pushing up on his arms and getting really close to pushing up into quadruped position. When he tries to get his knees up under him, he usually ends up pushing back and moving backward a few inches.

Caleb is getting three molars right now!

Caleb can show you where his tummy and head are. Once he got really good at "tummy", I started working on "head". When I ask him where his tummy is now, he usually pats his head and laughs. Silly kid. I'm now trying to teach him "mouth".

15 Month Recap

Weight: 18lb, 14oz

Length: 27.5"

Clothing size: Mostly 12 month, but he does wear a few 12-18 month and 18 month clothes. He still wears size 3 infant shoes.

Diaper size: size 3

Eating: Caleb has definitely found his appetite. It's hard to believe he had a feeding tube this time last year! Caleb loves turkey, cheese, guacamole, Greek yogurt, sweet potatoes, butternut squash and most other fruits and veggies. He hasn't seemed too interested in pasta, but he did gobble up some chicken spaghetti the other day. It was the Pioneer Woman's recipe... who doesn't love it?! Caleb drinks all of his milk and water from his Honey Bear straw cups now!

Sleeping: Caleb goes to sleep around 7:30-8:00pm and wakes up around 6:30-7:00am. Taking two naps is starting to become rare. When he does, he usually naps 30-60 minutes each time. If he only naps in the afternoon, that nap is usually 1-2 hours.

His days: Caleb is a busy little guy. He goes to Mother's Day Out three times each week. When he's not there, he stays busy with speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, story time at the library, play dates, and lots of play time at home.

Highlights of the last three months: Caleb's speech is getting more clear and intentional. His favorite thing to say is still "Dada"... even when Daddy isn't home. He says "Mama" every now and then. The ladies in the nursery last Sunday evening told me that Caleb said "Bye bye" when his friend left.

He's starting to sign a few words. He sometimes signs "eat" and "more" before and during meals/snacks. He was signing "celebrate" a lot, but he has switched to clapping lately.

If we ask him "where's tummy?", he will usually pat his tummy and smile!

Caleb is trying so hard to figure out how to crawl. He will sometimes rock from side to side and sort of propel himself forward a little bit. By doing this, he can usually move a couple feet. His biggest motivators are toys and Daddy's pizza. Rolling is still his primary mode of independent mobility.

12 Month Recap

Weight: 17lb, 6oz

Length: 27"

Clothing size: Mostly 9 month, but he wears a few 12 month shirts and pants. He wears size 3 infant shoes.

Diaper size: size 3

Eating: For breakfast, Caleb drinks 5-6 ounces of formula from a bottle and eats purees. At lunch, he drinks 4-5 ounces of formula from his straw cup. He also eats purees at lunch. He drinks another 3-4 ounces from his straw cup mid-afternoon and eats a snack (diced fruits, turkey, cheese, graham cracker sticks, Puffs, etc.). At dinner, he eats purees, Puffs, and little bites of whatever Brad and I are eating. He drinks 4-5 ounces of formula from a bottle before going to bed.

Sleeping: Caleb goes to sleep around 8:00pm and wakes up around 7:00am. He naps a couple times during the day, and those naps are anywhere from 0.5-2 hours. I'm trying to get him to nap in his crib, but that's a battle I'm not winning right now. He only wants to naps while I hold him or while he's in his car seat.

Highlights of the month: Caleb got his second tooth, started standing with assistance, and is babbling more and more every day. His favorite thing to say is "Da da da". He also says "Ba ba ba". I only hear "Ma ma ma" when he's really upset.
