Buddy Walk and Run for T21 5k

We attended our first Buddy Walk on Saturday, October 19th. The day started with the Run for T21 5k. It was so cold outside at 8:00am, so Brad and Caleb ate breakfast at Starbucks while I ran. Immediately following the 5k, the Buddy Walk started at the Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. About 25-30 of our friends and family came to support Caleb. From 9:00 to noon, we visited and let the kids enjoy all the Buddy Walk activities! At noon, we joined all of the other teams for a walk around the ballpark to show support for people with Down syndrome. Team Caleb raised $2909.00 for the Down Syndrome Association of Central Oklahoma!

12 Month Recap

Weight: 17lb, 6oz

Length: 27"

Clothing size: Mostly 9 month, but he wears a few 12 month shirts and pants. He wears size 3 infant shoes.

Diaper size: size 3

Eating: For breakfast, Caleb drinks 5-6 ounces of formula from a bottle and eats purees. At lunch, he drinks 4-5 ounces of formula from his straw cup. He also eats purees at lunch. He drinks another 3-4 ounces from his straw cup mid-afternoon and eats a snack (diced fruits, turkey, cheese, graham cracker sticks, Puffs, etc.). At dinner, he eats purees, Puffs, and little bites of whatever Brad and I are eating. He drinks 4-5 ounces of formula from a bottle before going to bed.

Sleeping: Caleb goes to sleep around 8:00pm and wakes up around 7:00am. He naps a couple times during the day, and those naps are anywhere from 0.5-2 hours. I'm trying to get him to nap in his crib, but that's a battle I'm not winning right now. He only wants to naps while I hold him or while he's in his car seat.

Highlights of the month: Caleb got his second tooth, started standing with assistance, and is babbling more and more every day. His favorite thing to say is "Da da da". He also says "Ba ba ba". I only hear "Ma ma ma" when he's really upset.

Happy Birthday!

What a wonderful day of celebrating Caleb's first birthday! I plan to write a longer birthday recap post in a few days, but I just had to share a couple iPhone pics from his big day.

Wichita

Brad, Caleb and I spent a great weekend with friends in Wichita, KS! The guys played golf while the girls took the kids to Botanica on Saturday afternoon. My future botanist was in Heaven with all the plants! And this morning, Katy and I ran our first half marathon! My time was a little slower than I had hoped but not too bad for my first attempt.

Down Syndrome Awareness Month

October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month! To kick off the month, here are a few pics of my favorite two "chromosomally enhanced" boys. Caleb and Emerson had a great time at the library and then playing at Emerson's house this morning.

Pumpkin Patch

On Saturday, we went to a pumpkin patch at Wings. The weather was amazing, and it was a perfect day to spend a little time outside. We took lots of photos and purchased a few pumpkins. Caleb rode in a pumpkin train, slid (with assistance) down a slide for the first time, watched some rabbits in their cage, and played with lots of hay. He didn't seem too interested in the pumpkins.

If you need any pumpkins or fall flowers, you should stop by Wings! All of the proceeds benefit their programs/activities for adults with special needs. They are doing amazing work, and I look forward to Caleb being involved there when he's older.

(I took this image from the Wings website. I didn't ask permission, but I figure they don't mind me promoting their event!)
